2007 Nu-Med - Balkan Beat Box

Accordind Allmusic, The name suggests a troupe of plugged-in Gypsies, and Balkan Beat Box is that, for starters. Lob on overdoses of klezmer and hip-hop, funk and dub, brass band and Arabic elements, and you'll be closer to getting it. Formed around two Israeli-born musicians, Tamir, who pounds the drums and takes care of the programming, and saxman ori Kaplan, Balkan Beat Box is a veritable melting pot of disparate sounds and seemingly contrary influences, all scrunched together seamlessly and disguised as an exhausting riot. Calling it world music wouldn't do it justice, it's more like out of this world music.
On my words, this is Fu..ing amazing stuff, Evil Monkeys! (theres another post from this group below)

1958 Louis Prima / Keely Smith - Live from Las Vegas

Just look what it says the Allmusic review for this one "...For those who checked out Prima during the lounge revival, this is one for your next bash. For those who have been longtime disciples, this is the Holy Grail..." and is brought to you by "I'm a Evil Monkey"... Ok ok, No applauses required

1959 Last Recording - Billie Holiday

His troubled life was born in Baltimore on April 7, 1915 (a few reports say 1912) under the real name "Eleanora Fagan Gough". Amazing, talented, and unforgettable, there's no doubt about that Billie Holiday was the first popular jazz singer to move audiences with the intense, personal feeling of classic blues, she changed the art of American pop vocals forever. She pass the way on july 17º 1959 in New York, and in many ways, this release makes me feel sad. You know why...

You will be always here, Billie!

Many Thanks ErrolKane... Great tribute!

1957 Love is the Thing - Nat King Cole

Listeners who want to hear why Nat "King" Cole was so popular during the 50's & 60's eras (Besides today, of course), and those who love the sound of his voice will enjoy this fine release. (I guess taht you already noted that Evil Monkey loves Nat King Cole, right?)

2001 The Art of Armenian Duduk - Djivan Gasparyan

Gasparyan was born just outside of the nation's capital city of Yerevan, first picking up the instrument at age six. After joining the Tatool Altounian National Song and dance Ensemble in 1948, his first professional engagement was as a soloist with the Yerevan Philharmonic Orchestra; Gasparyan later went on tour extensively throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the United States, and in 1973 was the first musician given the honorary title of People's Artist of Armenia by the nation's government. just one tip: Did you see the Scorcese's movie called "The Last Tempation of Christ? Ok, if you love it the Peter Gabriel's soundtrack, (Obviously I did) was because of the armenian instrument called "duduk", wich Gasparyan knows perfectly.

1958 Pahu Tahiti! - Champion South Sea Drummers (Various)

Here's a cool exotica album for drum's fans. And there are a lot of drums. Other than one song called 'Ukelele', the album is entirely made up of Tahitian Drumming, featuring a number of groups. A interesting invitation to find the island's culture in a "naked" way, rather than trying to add an orchestra and jazz arrangements. Pure & True World Music for you, my monkey...

1955 Caribbean Moonlight - Les Baxter

Les Baxter is a pianist who composed and arranged for the top swing bands of the '40s and '50s, but he is better known as the "founder of exotica", a variation of easy listening that glorified the sounds and styles of Polynesia, Africa, and South America, even as it retained the traditional string and horn arrangements of instrumental pop. Exotica became a massively popular trend in the '50s, (even today is good to me) with thousands of record buyers listening to Baxter, Martin Denny, and their imitators. This is a sample of his talent. Long life to Exotica!!!

1966 Batman Exclusive Original Television Soundtrack - Nelson Riddle

This is a rarity... no doubts about it. Yes I know, the original Batman's composition belongs to Neal Hefti, but hardly you can compare it with Nelson Riddle. (besides it's absolutelly unnecessary) This LP was released on 1966 by Mercury (Exclusivelly for the 60's television's serie) so, in the middle of a song you can hear the pinguin's original voice, or maybe to the joker, provocating a new fight between the unforgettables sounds like "POW", "CRANK", "PIF", among others. GREAT ALBUM!

Zronk! Capow! Pif!

1936 Nuages - Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli

Jean Baptiste “Django” Reinhardt, born on 1910 was a Belgian Sinto jazz guitarist. He was one of the first prominent jazz musicians to be born in Europe, and one of the most renowned jazz guitarists of all time. His most renowned tunes include “My Sweet”, “Minor Swing”, “Tears”, “Belleville”, “Djangology” and... “Nuages” what it's you're receiving right now, but he's not alone, There is Stéphane Grappelli, born on 1908, a French pioneer jazz violinist who founded the Quintette du Hot Club de France with Django. It was one of the first and arguably the most famous of all-string jazz bands. Too many people, this is one the best European's Jazz samples... (It's not only in New Orleans, baby)

2002 Favela Chic Postonove 2

The second volume of tunes assembled by and for the painfully hip Paris nightspot Favela Chic is a surprising and far-reaching smorgasbord of Brazilian grooves both old and new. There's a superb mix of obscure samba cuts from the 1970s and latter-day material from the Trama label - the common thread is the sublimely funky energy of all the songs, which goes well beyond the norms of most Brazilian music into a cross-cultural stratosphere that's pretty much all its own. Entao...Vai na frente rapaz que o bicho pega!!!

Some compilations remind you why the compilation can be a valid art form, and this is one of them. 1980 Nelson Riddle and his Orchestra - Route 66 - REPOST

Nelson Riddle was quite possibly the greatest arranger in the history of American popular music. Over the course of his long and distinguished career, he was also a popular soundtrack composer, a conductor, a trombonist, and an occasional hitmaker in his own right. There's a nice compilation from TV Show's music themes (Including Nelson Riddle Orchestra, of course)... So, if you want to remember that moments, don't miss the chance!

1963 Xavier Cugat and His Orchestra - Cugi's - REPOST

Contrary to the title, Cugi's Cocktails is no sleepy album of "cocktail music." It has all the elements a listener would expect of Xavier Cugat's first great stereo album: an agreeable theme, a dash of exotic flair, and all the bombast of the preceding half-decade of experimenting with high-fidelity stereo recording. With fun, metaphor-laden liner notes and better than average artwork, Cugi's Cocktails makes a fine addition to any record collection or bar. So, what are you waiting for?

1995 Adventures in AfroPea 3 - Telling stories to the sea

Adventures In Afropea 3: Telling Stories to the Sea, is one of the first and most comprehensive anthologies of Afro-Portuguese out there. The music hails from Lisbon, Angola, São Tomé, and the Cape Verde islands, all fantastically represent here. Afropea may be the most soulful foreign music, as you can hear a variety of other heartfelt popular musical styles within its confines (blues, sambas, and rumbas, to name a few). Only the genre's very best artists are represented here, making it essential for newcomers. Bongo is possibly the most famous, and supplies the album's best track, "Mona Ki Ngi Xica." Originally released back in 1972, the track actually got Bongo arrested for its rebellious lyrics, which is surprising since it's a lovely acoustic ballad. Another highlight is 60-year-old singer Cesaria Evora, who contributes the song "Sobade. Absolutelly recommended!!!

1965 John Coltrane - Sun Ship

Other than first meditations, which was not released at the time, Sun Ship (reissued on CD by Impulse) was the final studio album by John Coltrane's classic quartet (with pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison, and drummer Elvin Jones) before Pharoah joined the band on second tenor. At this point in time, Coltrane was using very short repetitive themes as jumping-off points for explosive improvisations, often centered around one chord and a very specific spiritual mood. Even in the most intense sections (and much of this music is atonal), there is a logic and thoughtfulness about Coltrane's playing. Only for fans - Thanks All Music!!

2006 Bobby Darin - The Very Best of Bobby Darin

There's been considerable discussion (Stupid by any means) about whether Bobby Darin should be classified as a rock & roll singer, a Vegas hipster cat, an interpreter of popular standards, or even a folk-rocker. He was all of these and none of these. Periodically he was recording pop/rock and folk-rock singles whose principal appeal lay outside of the adult pop market. At one point he started calling himself Bob Darin and recorded songs with vague anti-establishment overtones that could be said to be biting the largely bourgeois hands that fed his highest-paying gigs. It may be most accurate to say that Darin was, above all, a SINGER who wanted to do a lot of things, rather than make his mark as a particular stylist. That's what I call a real Genius. Don't miss it.

(Yes, including your Grandfather & Grandmother).

Alfredo Gutierrez is one of the top-ranked performers of Colombian folk music. Together with his band, which includes accordion, drums, guaracharaca, scrapper, bass, guitar, trumpet, Gutierrez combines the Colombian traditions of vallenato, a folk music intially played on the Atlantic coastline for smuggler barons and their gangs, and cumbia, a more modern style. According to Djambe Online, Gutierrez and his band play a music that is "joyful and percussive, with lyrics right out of everyday life, love and money problems". Absolutelly AGREED!!!

Buena semana para la monada!!!!

Hola Gente!
