2006 Let 3

Thanks to balkanopithecus, a good friend of mine, here comes the latest album of Let 3, the famous, shocking & provocative Croatian rock band. Album is named "Bombardiraje Srbije i Čačka" (wiche more than less means "Bombardment of Serbia and Čačak" and brings highly provocative lyrics. Songs are pointed toward national stereotypes at Balkans, sexual behavior or rock remakes of all-popular Croatian songs. Finally, no matters how huge could be the planet or differents could be our cultures, you'll be always finding bands like the argentinean band named Bersuit Vergarabat, these are the Bersuits from croatia. I hope you like it!

1990 The Guo Brothers featuring Shung Tian - Yuan

Chinese music can be incredibly soulful and haunting. This is definitely true of Yuan, a moving, largely instrumental date uniting oboe player Shung Tian with the acclaimed Guo Brothers. In contrast to modern Chinese pop musicians, these players take an essentially traditional approach and offer arrangements of familiar Chinese folk songs like "Soldiers Of The Long March," "One Flower" and "Springtime On Parmir Mountain." Although bass guitar and electric keyboards are employed, time-honored instruments like the zheng (a Chinese harp), bamboo flutes and the oboe are what stand out on this excellent CD. AllMusic.-

Tracklist:
1. Dancing And Singing In The Village
2. Soldiers of the Long March
3. Step by Step
4. Fishing By Lamplight
5. Three Kingdoms
6. Evening Song
7. Training Horses on the Mongolian Grassland
8. Springtim on Parmir Mountains
9. My Second Life

1993 Ayub Ogada - En Mana Kuoyo

When listening to this album, one is struck immediately by the unique sound. The powerful, resonating nyatiti, a stringed instrument similar to the lyre and Ogada's reflective, subdued vocals are unlike anything you've ever heard. They're also almost the only things you will hear on this disc, the only embellishment being the occasional light percussion or wind instrument. Ogada sings in his native Kenyan tongue, of the beliefs and traditions of his people. "Go far, see the world, but don't forget where you come from," he intones in the song "Chiro," a sentiment he has obviously taken to heart. There are no pounding rhythms on this record, nothing you can dance to, but it is memorable nonetheless, and makes a strong case for the beauty of restraint. AllMusic.-

And just one more thing... Many many many Thanks, to the blessed Peter Gabriel by the Real World's releases!

1998 Armen Chakmakian & Djivan Gasparyan - Ceremonies

Armen Chakmakian helped bridge the worlds of jazz and ethnic world music. On this recording, he takes the music a step further, making it true world jazz. Egyptian, Armenian and other ethnic elements are used and the whole emerges as the sum of its parts. "Ceremonies" also succeeds as a reflection of Chakmakian's personality, with the pieces reflecting various emotional states. It's also very recommended to listen the Djivan's Gasparyan participation... That's what I call "real music for a real world"
