1997 Ofra Haza - Limited Edition De Luxe Collection

Long one of Israel's most popular singers, Ofra Haza broke through to international recognition during the mid-1980s when her traditional music found favor on the U.K. club circuit, its success leading to a series of unlikely pop projects. Born in Tel Aviv on November 19, 1957, Haza was the daughter of Yemenite parents forced to flee from their native country's Muslim regime; at the age of 12 she joined the renowned Hatikva theatrical troupe, and with the group cut a number of award-winning records before serving a compulsory two-year tour of duty in the Israeli army. Upon her discharge, in 1979 she mounted a solo career, becoming a star not only at home but also in neigboring Arab nations and now, we can say, on the entire world.

1995 Natacha Atlas - Diaspora

Even in the increasingly multicultural western musical landscape of the 1990's, Natacha Atlas has more right than most to claim multiculturalism. The half-Jewish Egyptian-Palestinian diva (well, some people says that he was born on Bruselles, Belgium) is fluent in four languages and, besides her training in classical singing, she trained in the 'raq shari, ' the art of bellydancing. Diaspora comes up with a heady mix of traditional Arabic music and sprinkeled techno beats that is so trance-inducing that it wouldn't go unnoticed on the dancefloor eventhough the songs are mysterious, hard to get your head around, and completely exotic. Enjoy it!!!

1990 The Mahabahrata Original Soundtrack

How can be an indian melody played by musicians from Japan, Turkey; Denmark and England?... maybe fun, but "no pure" you could say.... but it's not. The haunting, relaxed music heard on this CD takes its share of liberties with Indian spiritual music -and that's what makes it so interesting and so challenging to prove it.

1993 Trisan - Real World Records

This trio includes keyboardist Pol Brenan (co-founder of Clannad, Guo Yue, flutist and , a Japanese percussionist. They cover a broad terrain, from haunting, ethereal Deuter-like flute passages to rhythmic worldbeat numbers, plus vocals reminiscent of Clannad. It all holds together well on this excellent release that brings diverse lands and musical worlds into a topical whole. Trísan exemplifies the hybrid creations emerging out of today's cross-cultural world music. All Music Review.-

The musical traditions of Turkmenistan are combined with non-eastern music influences by Ashkhabad. 1997 Govi - Guitar Odissey

This California-based guitarist was actually born in Germany. His inspiration and style are similar to that of another German immigrant, Deuter. Like Deuter, Govi spent a number of years living and studying in India, where he added sitar to his vocabulary of acoustic and electric guitars, mandola, and cello. Govi's music gained in popularity in the 1990s, with the expansion of peoples awareness of world music and a renewed passion for flamenco, spawning new age hit albums like Andalusian Nights and Passion and Grace. His music is a gentle, melodious combination of influences from around the world. ~ allmusic.com

1966 Wes Montgomery - Tequila

Wes Montgomery was one of the great jazz guitarists, a natural extension of Charlie Christian, whose appealing use of octaves became influential and his trademark. He helped introduce listeners to jazz, and his live performances were as freewheeling as his earlier Riverside dates. Unfortunately at the height of his success, he died of a heart attack. However, Montgomery's influence is still felt on many young guitarists. On this one, Wes Montgomery had an opportunity to jam a bit while backed just by bassist Ron Carter, drummer Grady Tate and the congas of Ray Barretto.

1989 Ennio Morricone - Cinema Paradiso REPOST

Few viewers are able to resist the charms of Cinema Paradiso, the coming-of-age tale that captured the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1989. Celebrated composer Ennio Morricone's score captures the gentle-natured, nostalgic feel of the film masterfully. From the graceful title theme (which is revisited within most of the compositions) to the wistful "Visit to the Cinema" to the majestic "From American Sex Appeal to the First Fellini Film," Morricone manages to set the mood perfectly and unobtrusively. The orchestral score complements while it adds depth and subtle color to every scene. Andrea Morricone contributes the lovely "Love Theme," a sweeping piece of music incorporating flute and summarizing the entire proceedings. The soundtrack to Cinema Paradiso is another exceptional work from Morricone and the perfect souvenir to the film. All Music Review.-
